Denver Mass Shooting Leaves One Dead, Eight Injured at Ultra Lounge East, Today: Police Investigation Underway

DENVER, Colo. — A man has died and eight others were injured following a mass shooting outside a southeast Denver lounge early Monday morning, prompting a large-scale investigation by the Denver Police Department.

The deadly shooting occurred shortly after midnight at Ultra Lounge East, located at 9755 East Hampden Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

According to police, nine people were shot during the incident. Eight victims were transported to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening, while another man, who was also taken to the hospital, later died from his injuries. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.

Crime scene tape surrounded the lounge and portions of the parking lot as investigators spent hours collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting the scene. The shooting has left the southeast Denver community shaken as detectives work to determine what sparked the violence.

During a news conference, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said the gunfire occurred in both the patio area of Ultra Lounge East and the adjacent parking lot, suggesting the violence spread across multiple areas of the property.

Investigators believe many of those present had gathered at the lounge for an after-party following an earlier disturbance in neighboring Aurora. Authorities are examining whether that earlier incident may have played a role in the events that unfolded in Denver.

Chief Thomas said preliminary evidence indicates at least two firearms were used during the shooting. Detectives are actively working to identify those responsible, establish the sequence of events, and determine whether the individuals involved were acquainted before the shooting erupted.

At this time, no arrests have been announced, and police have not identified any suspects. Investigators continue reviewing surveillance footage, collecting forensic evidence, and interviewing witnesses in an effort to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
