Paul Anderson Obituary, Tecumseh, MI Death: Family Mourns Tragic Loss

With profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance, family, friends, and the Tecumseh, Michigan, community mourn the passing of Paul Eric Anderson, age 59, who passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. His loss leaves behind a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones, who will forever remember him for his kindness, passion, humor, and the many ways he brought joy to those around him.

Paul was born on March 2, 1967, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to the late George Archie and Gertrude Louise (Hanselmann) Anderson. Throughout his life, he built meaningful relationships and created countless memories with the people who mattered most to him.

On October 26, 2002, Paul married the love of his life, Michelle Lynn Martin, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment, Michigan. Together, they shared more than 23 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and cherished moments. Michelle remained his greatest supporter and companion throughout life’s joys and challenges.

Paul dedicated part of his professional life to serving as a shipping clerk at Eden Foods in Clinton, where he was respected for his reliability and commitment. However, those who knew him best understood that Paul’s greatest passions extended far beyond his work.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Paul was a lifelong University of Michigan football fan. His love for the Wolverines was unmatched, and he proudly spent nearly 30 years working on the field during football games, creating countless memories through the sport he loved. His dedication and enthusiasm made him a familiar and valued presence among fellow fans and the football community.

Paul also found great enjoyment in golf and bowling. He was an accomplished bowler who achieved the remarkable accomplishment of three perfect games, scoring 300 each time. His competitive spirit, love of sports, and enjoyment of friendly conversation made him someone who brought people together.

One of Paul’s favorite ways to connect with others was through “Paul’s Sports Chat,” an online space he created where he could share his thoughts on sports and engage with friends and family. Through his conversations, humor, and passion, Paul created a community where people could share their love of athletics and enjoy meaningful connections.

Paul faced significant health challenges throughout his life, including long-term heart issues. He was also recognized as the last and oldest known survivor of the mustard procedure performed in the early 1970s, a testament to his strength, resilience, and determination.

Above all, Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Parker Anderson and Emily Anderson (Martin Cortez Jr.); and his grandchild, Martin Paul Cortez-Anderson III. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Chery) Anderson, Pam (Jack) Land, Tom (Jodie) Anderson, and Lisa (Greg) Hayes, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Anderson; his father-in-law, Richard Vaughn; brothers-in-law Daniel Silva and Pete Duchesneau; and several cousins.

As family and friends gather to honor Paul’s life, they will celebrate not only the years he lived but also the love, laughter, and memories he shared with others. His passion for sports, his loyalty to family, and his ability to bring people together will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Funeral services for Paul Anderson will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 24, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Paul Eric Anderson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, generosity, passion for sports, and devotion to family will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
